I am introducing a new feature for my blog, starting in July. I will be having what I shall refer to as “field trip Fridays”. Every Friday, I will invite you to join me on a photo shoot. Most of these events will be held early in the morning, usually around sunrise. There may be times when I will do a sunset field trip, so those of you that are not morning persons can still join in the fun.
Requirements
You do not need to be in great physical shape to attend the field trips, but you will need some good sneakers or hiking shoes, since some of the areas we will be going to are rocky, and have uneven terrain. Always bring plenty of water and a good hat, and of course some sunscreen and sunglasses.
Equipment
You also do not need to bring or buy any fancy cameras for these trips. What you currently own, whether it is a traditional film camera or a digital point and shoot is fine. I am actually going to use a digital point and shoot myself. Of course, you will need a steady, lightweight tripod, since we will be shooting in low level light situations at sunrise. Bring lots of batteries and extra memory cards, just in case.
Breakfast and Snacks
Be sure to have a good breakfast before we go. While most journeys will not be overly physically demanding, we will be hiking and may be walking up to a mile to get some shots of more remote areas. And bring some snacks, such as your favorite fruit or some granola bars.
Photo Subjects
Photo subjects for the trips will vary, from nature and landscape, to flowers, textures, hot-air balloons, and architecture. I will let you know ahead of time what we will be photographing, so there are no surprises, and you can make sure you have the right equipment. Other photo subjects may be suggested, but anything that is not awake at sunrise (ie: family members), will not photograph well, if at all. Also, you don’t want your photo equipment damaged by irate photo subjects.
Finished Photos or Prints
The finished photos from the field trips will be posted in the gallery on my site. I will pick some of my shots to share with you, and welcome you to send some of yours to me, so that I can post them for the rest of the group(please limit to two photos each).
By the way, the group size is limited to 14 people. Please email me if you would like to sign up for the July 7th shoot. We will be staying close to home for this shoot, and doing some close-up photography.
