Finding Hostesses

When a new consultant starts, one of their first fears is “Nobody will host! Who can I find?” Now every person is in a different situation, so you need to look at where you are at, and how many people you know.

1.) Grand Opening. This is one option. Invite everyone you know. For some people who love to have parties and are used to good turn outs, this is a great option to introduce your products. For those who are afraid of being forward, unless you are willing to pick up the phone and call everyone, it will probably bomb. I hate to be so honest, but the best way to get a good attendance is to share your excitement. An invite in the mail does not do that. It may get lost, overlooked, tossed or just glanced out. And I am invited to so many parties, I only go to the ones where I get a phone call or to a close friend.

2.) Make a list of everyone you know and ask them to host. Though this can be scary, if you are not wanting to do your own, it’s often easier to have someone else do it for you. Now, you want to have six people get you started. If 6 friends introduce you to 10 people, you now have a new customer base of 60. 1 out of 10 will book a party. So now you have 6 new parties.

When making your list, think of everyone you know: Friends, family, relatives, associates, neighbors, church friends, people you know through your kids, those who you give business to like your banker or hair stylist and people your family knows.

The next step is to pick up the phone. Remember, not everyone will say yes, however, they may be able to be of further assistance. “Hi! This is Debbie! How are you? I hope this doesn’t seem out of the blue, but I wanted to run something by you and ask for your help. I’ve always respected your opinion. I just started a new home business with XYZ. Are you familiar with the company? (if not, tell them more). I wanted to get your opinion on the products. Also, if you feel you have friends who would like these products as well, you could help me out by having 10 friends over and I will give you free products based on the sales. How does that sound?”

Now play with the words and make them your own. Some people just love to help, and if that’s the case, ask for their help. If they say “no” don’t worry. Ask them who they know who would be interested.

3.) Boothes. There are many opportunities to get a booth at a fair or vendor event. This is a great way for others to see your product and for you to get leads. It also gets you out of your friends and family circle

4.) Businesses. Make a list of local businesses who would benefit from your product and call them. Make a personal appointment.

Work together with your team to practice your words and make it work. Best of luck!
