Fit with Forgiveness

Have you ever considered forgiveness as part of your fitness plan? If you haven’t, you just might want to after reading this blog.

In my view, a fit lifestyle is one that encompasses every area of an individual’s life. It relates to your physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and mental being.

I liken it to a wheel with five spokes. If any one of those spokes is missing, the wheel becomes unbalanced.

So in fitness you can’t just concern yourself with the physical aspect. You have to look at your overall health and this is where forgiveness comes in.

Consider what unforgiveness does on an emotional level. It causes angry and bitter feelings to stir up. If those feelings continue to fester, they can turn into moments of explosion (such as losing your cool) or more often, they are kept inside (which is like a volcano churning within, waiting for the opportune time to spew its ugly ash).

You know that volcanic feeling that can be inside. It doesn’t feel good. So you try and release it in other ways. But that is usually in the way of anger or irritation toward others. So not only are you possibly damaging other relationships, you now have this ugly fiery mess inside you.

What do you think happens with that? It turns into various types of sickness and diseases. It causes a lack of energy and motivation.

I remember several years ago when I was having some health issues, my doctor told me that about 80% of our diseases are psychological. He wasn’t saying these diseases weren’t real. But that they mostly stem from stress and other internal disturbances.

Unforgiveness is an internal disturbance that only hurts you. In fact, I remember hearing one time that choosing to not forgive someone is like drinking poison (because that is what unforgiveness is) and expecting someone else to die from it.

What about you? Are you ready to get fit with forgiveness?
