Five Places Where Water Can Save You Money

Water is the ultimate necessity for our lives. But with a little thinking ahead, this wonder element can help you save money throughout your life. Here are five places where using water can save you money.

At the Restaurant

Ordering water instead of another drink can save you a bunch on your restaurant bill. Order your water with a free slice of lemon if you want some flavor. With five of us, just ordering drinks at our local pizza restaurant can add another $10 to the bill! At fancy places, the savings is even higher.

In the Bathroom

Did you know that you can make so many wonderful inexpensive cleaners using water as the base ingredient. Just put the water in a spray bottle and add some vinegar for an all-purpose cleaners, or make a scrubbing paste from water and baking soda.

In the Kitchen

For a low cost and filling meal, make water the main component of your dinner with some homemade soup! Use ingredients that you might otherwise toss, such as a chicken carcass or a ham bone, and you have a meal prepared almost for free.

In the Summer

Cooling costs can really add up and make you spend hundreds of dollars. Use water to naturally cool off and help you reduce your bill. You can get a small pool (a kiddie pool is only $15 or less). Throw the kids in the pool for a few hours a day to cool off. Just sitting your feet in some cool water can cool you off on a hot day. When we lived in an area without much of a backyard, I ran a cool bath for the kids. They had fun playing and cooling off at the same time.

And here are three more quick ideas:

Drink water at home instead of other drinks.

Use water to hand wash delicate items and make them last longer.

Invest in a water bottle for work or sightseeing.
