Food—The Year In Review and What’s Ahead—I NEED YOUR HELP

The food blog saw many delicious recipes in 2006. From soups and stews, to amazing panini sandwiches and tantalizing salads, reader’s waist lines expanded just reading the recipes! I am thankful and happy to have been a part of those blogs, and have enjoyed reading and sampling my colleagues’ recipes as well.

Creating recipes for me is a joy. I love feeding people. I also love coming up with innovative ways to remake classic recipes. But in 2007 I’m going to make a conscious effort to include a few new elements in the food blog. With so many of our readers struggling to lose weight and determined to make fitness a reality in 2007, I’m going to be posting some more healthy recipes in the coming months. Some will be low in calories, some will be low in fat, and others will be low in carbohydrates. Some may be all of those rolled into one! But don’t worry, there will still be an abundance of stick-to-your-ribs comfort foods as well.

Because you, the readers, make the food blog what it is, I want to turn the tables over to you for a minute. What would you like to see? Are there any recipes in particular you’ve been wanting to try but don’t know how? Have you always wanted to try Mediterranean cooking but don’t know where to begin? Have you always wondered what the difference is between a canned black olive and a kalamata olive is, but were always too embarrassed to ask? Well now is your chance! No question is too small or too big.

I’d like to start an, “Ask Cathy” forum. Simply send me a private message and ask your question. Then, once per week I’ll post the questions and answer them (anonymously of course, unless you’d like me to use your name).

I’d also love to start telling your stories. So please, send me a message and telling me about the time your Aunt Ida burnt the turkey. Tell me about how your grandma’s dumplings made everyone smile, or how you remember licking the cake bowl. Cooking isn’t just about the food—it’s about the experience.

I hope you’ll share your thoughts and requests with me. I’d like the food blog to be the best it can be in 2007, and that starts with YOUR input.

Can’t wait to hear from you!

Cathy
