Found Me a New Plastic Surgeon

I had my first appointment with a new plastic surgeon and I must admit I was really uncomfortable. I had heard that this doctor make incredible breast and it was a little weird to hear that is what he is known for. I went to the appointment with my husband because by now I had about 8 surgeries between the initial mastectomies and reconstruction and all the repairs that followed. I have also just recently had to have my reconstruction reworked and implants put in.

I tried to be patient with my first surgeon and I think I gave him more than enough tries to get it right and I had enough. My new surgeon is a part of the UTSW hospital system just like my new oncologist. He walked in and he was not quite what I was expecting. He looked young I was not really ready for that. I explained to him all the surgeries I have had and all the problems that happened with them. I told him why my oncologist referred me to him, as if the pink breast was not a hint.

I found myself explaining all my problems to this nice doctor and then I noticed that I was tearing up. He asked me what was wrong and I explained to him that I hate the way the new girls turned out and I was tired of all these surgeries and problems. He said that he could not make me like I was before cancer but he could definitely make them much better. He did have some news though he was going to remove my implants that I just had put in. It seems the side that was turning pink (which was the side I had cancer on) should not have had an implant put in. He said that they don’t recommend implants on sides that have been radiated. He did have another option but we were going to have to remove it and heal before he could do anything else. On the non-radiated side (the one that I said felt like an under filled water bed) was not filled correctly and he was going to remove it, give me a little while to heal again and then he would put a new implant in it.

He then sent me to the picture lady who took a lot of pictures of me topless again. We set the surgery to remove them in a few days away. Yeah another surgery and yes I was being sarcastic.

About Tammy Woolard

My name is Tammy and I am 40 year old mother of 3 wonderful children who came to us through domestic adoption. Although we did not have any fertility issues we chose adoption because there are so many kids that did not ask to be born but truly want a family to love. We did research on adoption choices and decided on domestic adoption through CPS. You would be surprised the differences between each agency. The adoption process is nothing like you see in the movies. I am also a 5 year breast cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed my kids were 3, 5 and 7 I did so much research I may have driven my Dr. a little crazy but that is ok it is my body not his.
