Need some help getting into the Halloween spirit? Try some of these free Halloween apps for iPhone and iPad. I found some really cute and kid-friendly Halloween apps, and a couple that might be too scary for little kids to play with. They are not quite the same as the free Halloween apps for Android that I found for yesterday’s blog.
Carve-a-Pumpkin is a free app from Parents Magazine. (It is created by Resolute Digital, LLC). This kid-friendly app is compatible with both iPhone and iPad. The app shows you an image of an pumpkin, and you use your finger to carve it. Or, you can select stencil shapes to help you carve a pumpkin. You can save the image of your carved pumpkin, and share it on Facebook, Twitter, or through email.
Make A Zombie is a free app that is compatible with both iPhone and iPad. The app lets you make little, cute, cartoon, zombies. You can select heir bodies, clothes, eyes, hairstyles, heads, legs, and mouths. You can think of this as a Halloween version of a virtual “paper doll” – that happens to be a zombie.
LEGO Halloween Creationary is a free app that was created by the LEGO Group. It is compatible with iPhone and iPad. This is another kid-friendly app. Roll the LEGO dice to find out which of the categories you will be guessing. Categories include Places, Things, Costumes, and Creatures. The game starts building an object out of LEGO bricks, and you have to guess what it is building. Tap on one of four possible answers. Guess incorrectly, and the game ends.
Halloween Coloring Book is another free app for iPhone and iPad. This one is great for little kids to play with! It has several outlined, cartoon, images of vampires, a cat, witches, a pumpkin, and more. Kids use the crayons on the app to color the picture. Shake the device to clear the picture and start over.
Scary Sounds is a free app that is compatible with iPhone and iPad. This one is rated 12+ because it can be a bit scary. Choose from a bunch of different scary Halloween sounds. You can play them individually, or put them into a customized loop. There are several kinds of scary laughter, wolves howling, the sound of a raven, and more.
Ghost Capture is another free app that is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It requires iOS 4.0 or later. This one has been described as a “freaky”, and is rated for kids age 9 or older.
Take any photo that is in your iPhone photo album. Take a new photo to superimpose a ghost over the photo that you have selected. You can adjust the size, rotation, and transparency of the ghost. Choose from “creepy Victorian children”, faceless torsos, Civil War soldiers, ghostly orbs, and more.
