Genealogy Podcast Roundup – Week of August 2, 2011

microphone It’s time for you to check out the new episodes of several genealogy podcasts. If you haven’t finished listening to the ones listed in last week’s Genealogy Podcast Roundup, don’t worry! One great thing about podcasts is that the episodes tend to stay online, and accessible, for a long time.

Genealogy Guys Podcast released episode number 224 on July 16, 2011. This episode was done in front of a live audience, and was recorded as it was going on. It took place at the annual Summer Institute of the Dallas Genealogical Society in Dallas, Texas.

Arizona Public Media has a podcast that talks about a “Bloomsday” celebration. This takes place on June 16th every year, and involves readings from the book “Ulysses” by James Joyce. He is Ireland’s most famous writer. In Tucson, Arizona,“Bloomsday” is also a celebration of Irish heritage. I highly recommend listening to this very entertaining episode!

Eastman’s Online Genealogy Newsletter Podcast released a podcast on July 29, 2011. This episode has an interview with Connie Reik, who is a Government Publications Coordinator and Research Librarian for History at Tufts University. She talks about Zotero, and the ways it is useful for genealogists.

Geneabloggers released an episode on July 29, 2011. This episode is called “Your Story Matters – Capturing Your Personal Family History”. Host Thomas MacEntee speaks with several special guests in this episode. Special guests include: Ian Kath, founder of “Create Your Life Story”, Zach Weiner, from Storytree.me, and Amy Coffin, from the We Tree blog. The topic of this episode is how to capture the story of your family.

Victory Church has continued its series that discusses the family tree of people who appear in the Bible, (and who are part of Jesus’ family tree). Part Six focuses on the family tree of Solomon. Part Seven discusses the family tree of Hezekiah. Genealogists who enjoyed the previous five episodes of this series will want to tune in to check out parts six and seven.
