There may also be podcasts that don’t always talk about genealogy topics, but, have done so for a random episode.

Genealogy Gems released episode number 136 on July 8, 2012. This episode is called “Life After iGoogle”. In this episode, host Lisa Louise Cooke has a fantastic solution for everyone who is concerned about Google pulling the plug on iGoogle. She also points out that her website has been upgraded, in many ways. The upgrade is for the free iTunes podcast feed and the Premium feeds. She also points out that the podcast has a Facebook Fan Page.

Genealogy Guys released an episode on July 9, 2012. It is episode number 238. In this episode, Drew and George discuss genealogy news including: the FamilySearch update to the 1940 census indexing project, RootsMagic has two new CDs, MyHeritage has reached 1 billion profiles, and much more! They also read and respond to listener email.

African Roots Podcast released episode number 170 on July 6, 2012. In this episode, host Angela Walton-Raji mentions the heat wave that occurred on the Mid-Atlantic coast, and that this has caused a power outage. She also points out an upcoming genealogy event that will be happening in Maryland, and mentions the Delmarva African American Historical & Genealogical Society, which is a new organization.

Irish Roots Cafe released an episode on July 5, 2012. This episode is called “MacCarthy Chief; Donoghue; Sullivan; MacEgan; O’Rourke, O’Daly, O’Duinin. Desmond and Cork”. This episode is an audio recording of the book “Irish Family Origins”. It features a portion from “The Families of County Cork, Ireland”. The show notes give a lot of details about the information that is in the podcast.

NPR released an episode of “Weekend Edition Saturday” on July 7, 2012. This episode is called “Manju: A Taste of Home For Seattle’s Japanese Community”. The episode talks about Manju, which are Japanese dough buns that are sweet, and are made from pounded rice flour dough with flavored fillings. It is a food that is associated with special occasions, like Children’s Day. Traditional foods are a big part of family history.

PBS NewsHour released an episode on July 9, 2012. The episode is called “Obama’s Search for Himself: ‘A Classic Odyssey’”. This episode features an interview with author David Maranis who wrote a book called “Barack Obama: The Story”. The book describes President Obama’s earlier years.
