General Conference Fall 2006 Talks Available

As you know, General Conference was last weekend. They have now officially posted the talks in English on the church’s website. If you had a difficult time paying attention for any reason, or if you just want to reread the talks and focus on ways that you can improve, you can read the talks now.

In his talk “We Bear Testimony to the World” President Gordon B. Hinckley welcomed out everyone to General Conference. He spoke briefly about the how conference has become more available over the years. It is wonderful to think that across the country and the world you can watch conference over the Internet or on your satellite TV. He went on to say:

“Circumstances change, but our message does not change. We bear testimony to the world that the heavens have been opened that God, our Eternal Father, and His Son, the risen Lord, have appeared and spoken. We offer our solemn witness that the priesthood has been restored with the keys and authority of eternal blessings.”

President Hinckley ended his remarks by hoping that our “hearts and minds might be filled to overflowing.” These were wonderful opening remarks to a great conference session. Each week I will be revisiting one of the talks. This is a great chance to really take the words into your heart and focus on the message that is being shared. I encourage you to take the time to review the words, which have been given us.

General Conference is truly a blessing. It is also a blessing that it is so easily available to members of the church now. Not too many years ago members had to wait until it was available in the “Ensign.” Now members can read General Conference within a week of hearing it. We are truly blessed to have the gospel so readily available to us.

You can now watch conference at home, at church, on the Internet or listen to it on the radio, as well as read it. What is your favorite way to partake of conference? What tips do you have to cut down on distractions during conference?
