In his talk “The Temple Is about Families” Elder Richard H Winkel speaks about temples. He talks about the recent building and dedication of the Sacramento Temple. He speaks of how your love for your family will increase as you attend the temple. Elder Winkel shares how his love for his immediate and extended family has increased as he has increased his temple attendance.
Elder Winkel shares the story of trying to schedule an activity with one of his sons. He realized that he would not be able to do anything him for two weeks. Eventually they decided to go bowling at 5:00 a.m. The morning of the scheduled activity his son began waking him up at 2:00 a.m. ready to go. Elder Winkel goes on to say the wishes that he had regular memorable activities with his children. He then mentions that he is grateful that one of the blessings of the temple means that he and his children can be together forever.
Elder Winkel goes on to mention the other blessings of the temple. He speaks of the blessing of peace that you can receive as you attend the temple. The temple is truly a refuge from the world. He also speaks of the blessing of serving others in the temple. Elder Winkel ends his talk with:
“Let’s become a temple-attending and temple-loving people. I bear testimony that the temple is about families. I also testify that everything in the temple testifies of Jesus Christ. His example of love and service is felt there. The temple is His holy house. I know that He is the Son of God, our Savior, our Redeemer, our Mediator, and our Advocate with the Father. He loves us and wants our families to be happy and to be together forever. He wants all of us to be active in His temple.”
This is a wonderful talk. It talks about the many blessings available as a result of attending the temple. The Sacramento temple is the 123rd temple in the world. It is wonderful to know that so many temples are available throughout the world. This means that the temple blessings are available to nearly every member.
