Getting Axed in Hollywood—-Lindsay, Anne, and “The Sopranos”

So much for getting into the mind of a menace…

At this point the role wouldn’t be a stretch for derailed actress Lindsay Lohan, but alas, studio bosses thought the risk for them would be far too significant.

According to reports, Lohan has been axed as the star of an upcoming biopic of murderer Charles Manson. The repeat rehabber had signed on to play Nancy Pittman – a member of Manson’s “family” – in the independent film “Manson Girls.”

That was more than a month ago. Now, reports say Lohan’s contract has been cancelled because studio big wigs fear the former Mouseketeer has returned to her partying ways despite the fact that she has been in rehab for substance abuse twice already.

Hollywood insiders claim studio execs are not convinced that Lohan is “completely cured” and the risk they would have to take to keep her on the payroll is too great. Meanwhile, other reports say producers for the “Manson” movie were struggling to sign other major stars to the movie, because of Lohan’s presence (which at this point precedes her in a very bad way).

Moving on to the small screen…

Actress Anne Heche can now spend more time with her young son.

According to TV Guide, Heche’s ABC series “Men In Trees” will not be returning for a new season after it wraps up this summer.

The show brought Heche and James Tupper together and drove her to divorce her former husband Coley Laffoon (the father of their 6-year-old son Homer). Heche and Tupper went from being on-screen lovers to a real-life couple in 2006.

Finally, “Sopranos” creator David Chase has axed any plans to produce a movie version of the hit HBO TV show.

Hopes for a big screen debut of the popular mob drama will be tabled at least until Chase completes his latest project. According to reports, Chase recently signed a deal with Paramount Studios to create an “original drama.”

Rumors of a “Sopranos” movie have been circulating since the much-hyped final episode aired last year. Adding to the speculation was the fact that Hollywood insiders claimed they had seen a possible script for a movie version of the hit HBO drama floating around Tinseltown.
