Getting Paid to Drive

No, I’m not talking about becoming a long-distance truck driver. Instead, there is a new form of advertising out there that you may have already seen out on the streets: Ads plastered on cars. I’m not talking about a business owner putting their logo on their company vehicle, but instead where large companies pay the average American (soccer Mom, commuter Dad, and everyone inbetween) to place the companies’ ads on vans, cars, SUVs, trucks, and any other vehicle you could think of. The ads range from a small ad placed on the side or back of the vehicle, to full-body ads (called car wraps) where the ads cover every inch of exposed space. The pay also ranges accordingly, from receiving free gas (but no cash) for the smaller ads, to a free car or $400 cash payment each month for the wrapped vehicles.

The more your drive and the wider the area you cover when you drive, the more likely you are to have your application accepted. It also helps to live in a highly populated area—if you live in a tiny town, population 200, it’s not likely they are going to pay you to drive around in it.

One great part of this is that they don’t expect you to drive anywhere you don’t already drive. They place the ad on your vehicle, and then you continue to drive just like you always have, to the grocery store, to the ballgame, to the school. That’s why on every application, you’re going to see questions on where you already drive in your daily activities, because they don’t expect you to change those habits at all. You are getting paid to do something you already do. Pretty darn nice if you ask me.

If you are interested in the free gas idea, check out Free Gas Help. If you think driving a wrapped car is more your style, check out Ad Wraps or FreeCar Media. Both sites have pictures of what the wrapped cars look like–they have some fun designs out there!

The competition for these spots are pretty high, but if you are really interested, it’s always worth a shot. This just may be your lucky day!
