Gratitude In Life and Marriage

Gratitude is an important aspect of life, and especially married life. It is important that our spouse knows that we are grateful for them, for their love and support.

The recent visit for the Watoto children’s choir, their gratitude and love for life started me thinking about the things that I am grateful for. I’m grateful for:

My husband

I am grateful for Mick’s love and support. I am grateful for the relationship we have. I’m grateful that he loves me, and that he holds me and listens to me. I’m grateful he is there to talk through problems with and also share happy times as well as those not so happy times. I’m grateful that at the end of the day we curl together in bed and rest in each other’s arms.

My family.

I value my family and the love we have for each other. Even in hard times, and there have been a few recently, we know we can turn to each other for love, support, prayer, encouragement and occasionally a good talking to if that is what is needed.

My friends

I’m grateful for long term friends and also newer friends, especially those I have made since moving here. I am grateful for friends who will drop whatever they are doing to come and hug, encourage me and pray with me about my worries and concerns. There’s been need of that this week.

The place where we live

I am glad I live in Australia and especially this part of it near the coast. It is just so beautiful to wake up each day in this beautiful part of our country. In the two years I have been here I feel more at home here than I have anywhere.

The feeling of belonging

The feeling of belonging is one I treasure. Belonging to God and knowing that my future is secure, belong to God’s family, belonging to to Mick and the love and sense of belonging together and the long married life we’ve had together. Belonging to a family and the joy that is. Belonging in this community where I live.

These are only a few of the things I am grateful for. I’d love to hear the things you are grateful for in your marriage and in your life.

If you haven’t told your spouse today that you love them and are grateful them, why not do it now? If they’re not home, send them a text message or email, or ring them or write a little love note for them to find.
