Great Frugal Gifts for Teachers

teacher gifts Honor your favorite teachers with thoughtful gifts without going broke. Don’t forget the bus driver, the nurse and anyone else who has taken care of your child this year. The gifts don’t have to be large, and they don’t have to be expensive. Just put a little creativity and thought into each one, and you’ll create a lasting impression, as well as brighten up the day for a special person in your child’s life.

Group Present

This year, organize a group present. You can do this formally, through the home room moms for a class, or informally, such as asking all of the parents at the bus stop to contribute to a group gift for the bus driver. Parents can contribute whatever they are comfortable with giving, and the cash can be put toward a nice gift or gift card for the recipient.

Usually, a quick email or letter sent with the kids will do the trick.

Books or Games

Contact the school librarian, who may just be able to help you figure out which books or games your teacher would like for the classroom. You will give a double gift if you purchase them through the school’s book fair, since the school may get a percentage of the purchase. Plus the books or games will be delivered quickly and directly.

Letters and Photos

Have your child write a hand made letter and draw a photo. Then frame it in an inexpensive frame that the teacher can display on her wall or his desk. Even better…have all of the kids in the class create drawings and letters and then bind them together in a book. You can have the book bound professionally for a small cost or purchase a regular binder and plastic sleeves to display all of the creations.
