Health Benefits of Kale

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

For a long time I have heard of the health benefits of kale. There are so many amazing things about kale that I promised myself I would try it. I was hesitate because for some misguided reason I thought it would be bitter. So, I finally decided to purchase some from a local market. I decided to make it in a simple manner. I sautéed it with salt and pepper. I figured once I had an idea of the taste I would know better what to add or which recipes I would like to try. To my surprise, I loved it. It fit in perfectly as a side dish or added to a stir fry. If you still have not tried it, I highly recommend it. If you already eat it, I recommend you keep it as a large part of your diet.

Health Benefits of Kale

High in Iron. Could quite possibly replace beef in this category.

High in Vitamin C: Which supports metabolism.

High in Fiber: Like Vitamin C, this is another weight loss benefit. There is 5 grams of fiber in one cup of kale and only 36 calories with no fat.

Detox: Kale is an amazing detoxifying agent for the liver.

High in antioxidants: Antioxidants are known as a cancer fighter.

High in vitamin K: Honestly, I hardly hear a thing about vitamin K, however, it does fight certain for s of cancer.

High in calcium: Now there is no reason to feel guilty about not drinking milk. Studies have shown that calcium can aid in weight loss.

All of those wonderful benefits from one great tasting food it is almost too good to be true. I have added it to stir fries and to pasta meals like I would spinach. Even the kids ate it. So try something new that tastes good and is good for you.
