It’s back! Every year HGTV throws a contest where one lucky winner walks away with a house. Not just a house, mind you, but a dream house. They’re built just for the contest, elegantly decorated, and situated in beautiful communities with gorgeous views. Truly a dream come true.
Although we already have a home that we (mostly) love, we continue to enter. We’ve been entering for four years now and haven’t won yet, so this must be our year! The 2007 home is in Winter Park, Colorado, a skier’s paradise. It’s one that I could actually see my parents living in, with us visiting all the time. Of course, I’ll want to keep the $250,000 in cash and the new GMC Acadia! So I enter daily. You can too. The entries end on February 16, 2007. There’s still time to get your name in thirty times or more.
I love contests that don’t cost you anything to enter. There are no purchase requirements, and if you don’t want them, you won’t even get emails from them. Of course, there are some great choices for newsletters that you can sign up for. I’m getting the remodeling and healthy living ones. It’s an added benefit.
On the Dream Home website, you can take a 360-degree tour of the home. This is the part I love the most. Since I’m color- and style-challenged, there are a lot of good ideas in the dream homes. I like to imagine myself there. The kids already had their rooms picked out in the Tyler, TX house (2005 Dream Home). The Winter Park home is a little more modest in size (about half as large), but it’s elegantly appointed and contains top of the line electronics. There are great decorating tips and videos on the site to help you make your own home a dream home.
I really do think this is our year. I see just the place for my antique hutch…
