I would be remiss to look at various types of writing jobs and not address becoming a blogger. We may not think this can be a salary earner but you really can make money blogging. However at the same time we need to be realistic and understand that you won’t be able to retire early as a blogger.
Most bloggers do it for free and do it for fun. We enjoy sharing with the rest of the world. This reminds me of one of my favorite movies, “Julie and Julia.” It’s the true story of a woman named Julie Powell who spent an entire year cooking the 524 recipes found inside Julia Child’s cookbook, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.”
While she cooked her way through the cookbook, she also blogged about her experiences doing this. This led to a book and then a movie. So who’s to say your blog couldn’t grow into something fantastic?
There really are some paid blogging jobs out there. One of the best “job boards” I have used is “Problogger.” They provide a list of blogging jobs available that includes a description of the job, the skills needed, payment information and how to apply.
Another really good resource is Blogger Jobs.biz. They even break their blog jobs down into categories such as fashion, finance, sports and so on. Freelancebloggingjobs.com is another good one.
Believe it or not, blogging jobs are out there. It may be a tougher competition but you can even earn money with your own personal blog. One way is to sell advertising on your blog. Google’s AdSense is probably the most popular.
There are also affiliate programs, such as on Amazon that generates income. You help sell someone else’s product while earning some money yourself. Or you can market services or products through your blog. Some bloggers have turned their blogs into eBooks and sold those.
Keep in mind that in order to make money with your own blog, you will need to establish it first and have gained a healthy following. But the opportunities are there, you just have to be patient and diligent.
