Welcome! I’m glad you found my little slice of cyberspace.
In case you’re wondering who “I” am, let me introduce myself. My name is Michele Blandino and I am from central New Jersey. I am a freelance writer and I work from home. I am also a wife, mother, daughter, sister, scrapbooker, Girl Scout leader, active church member, school volunteer, occasional walker, and long-suffering Rutgers Scarlet Knight fan. In short, I’m pretty busy! And chances are, I’m just like many of you (well, perhaps with the exception of the Scarlet Knight-fan part).
I will be sharing this space with my fellow blogger Beth Sawyer. Together, we hope to create a place that you will find to be helpful and perhaps even a little fun.
It has been nearly five years since I started my freelance writing business and I can honestly say that each day continues to be a learning experience. As you can imagine, there is so much to know about setting up and running a home based business and while some of it may be specific to the type of business you operate – or intend to operate – much of what is involved is the same regardless of whether you are a writer like me or are involved in direct sales or some other type of business.
And regardless of the type of business you own, all of us home business owners are all united in our common goal: to be able to successfully work from home. And, as home business owners, we are all presented with essentially the same set of challenges. Obviously, I understand that not all of you are parents, but since this is a “family” themed website, it’s a good bet that many of you are and so, I intend to devote a good number of my blog entries to subjects concerning balancing the needs of family with those of your business.
One thing I don’t plan to do in this space is provide job leads. Once you figure out what you want to do, there are plenty of terrific websites out there that can help you track down work. Instead, we will talk about things like organization and motivation, coping with frustration, setting and achieving goals and making the most of the time you have. Along the way, I’ll share some of my personal experiences. It is my sincere hope that this blog will be one of those places on the web that you will visit on a regular basis and that it not only provides you with valuable information, but inspires you to go out and make your home-based business the best it can be.
Running a home-based business can be one of the most rewarding – yet frustrating – experiences you will ever encounter. In order to succeed, you will need time, patience, focus and a tremendous amount of flexibility. It also doesn’t hurt to have a sense of humor.
