Home Chore List: Twice-A-Year Cleaning Chores (2)

In the previous article, Home Chore List: Twice-A-Year Cleaning Chores (1), we got started on listing all of those cleaning chores that need to be done just twice a year. In general, twice-a-year chores can be a little more involved that the standard daily or weekly cleaning chores, so be sure to allow yourself enough time to complete them, whether you attack them all on a weekend or do a little each day.

To review, here is out twice-a-year cleaning chore list so far:

  • Clean the oven
  • Clean the stove hood and exhaust fan
  • Clean out the freezer

Yes, those tasks are all concentrated on the kitchen. But, we will move out of that room, I promise. Since we have been stuck inside for the last three tasks, let us head outside for a breather. The next task on the list is:

Wash all of the plastic furniture and outdoor toys.

Fortunately, plastic is pretty easy to clean, especially when you are doing it outdoors. Take a bucket full of soap and water and a big sponge and soap everything up. Then rinse it all with a hose. Or do what I do and get that power washer out. The power washer is one of my favorite tools to use because it is so much fun. So, I’m going to include it in the next cleaning task.

Wash down sidewalks, walkways and driveways.

Yup, get that power washer out again to really make our outdoors shine. I told you I love this tool. It makes short work of cleaning large surfaces. Don’t have or want a power washer? Use a hose with a bottle of soap attached to rinse down all of the dirt, sap, berries, road salt and whatever else has accumulated in the past six months. It will add greatly to your curb appeal. For an added bonus, wash down your garage door.

Next up, more twice-a-year cleaning chores.
