Home Depot

Self described as the “World’s largest home improvement retailer, operating more than 1500 stores across North America,” Home Depot is one of my favorite home centers. Not only do they have stores all over, they also have nearly everything you need for do-it-yourself projects.

Home Depot has a website, with over 30,000 items you can shop for from the comfort of your home. Visit Home Depot online, and check the top right-hand corner of the site for the store finder, type in your zip code, and locate the store closest to you.

You can order things from the online store, or simply gather information about appliances, tools, hardware, flooring, or interior decor items, before heading out to your local store. You can find descriptions, specs, and prices, without leaving your home.

Home Depot’s slogan is, “You can do it. We can help.” They honor this slogan by hiring knowledgeable, friendly sales people to help you locate the things you need, offer advice, or if Home Depot doesn’t have what you need, to order it for you.

If you’d rather not do it yourself, you can hire Home Depot experts to do many projects or installations for you. The staff is a good resource for home improvement advice and suggestions, and if you do prefer to do it yourself, Home Depot offers how-to classes for specific projects on weekends. They also offer “Do It Herself” classes, especially for women. Tens of thousands of women have participated in these classes, and most say they would do so again.

Don’t forget to check out Home Depot’s EXPO Design Center, which is described as a one stop interior design store. You can check out many of their products online, and you can also see quite a few featured on Trading Spaces, which Home Depot sponsors and helps produce.
