Home School Blogger Spotlight: Kindergarten Works

Kindergarten Works is a blog written by a real live Kindergarten teacher. Leslie makes the sacrifice of time to show us how a traditional Kindergarten classroom works. Now, I used the term “traditional” loosely. Traditional from the standpoint that her classroom is in a school building and not a dining room like many homeschooling Kindergarten moms, however, if images of students seated at desks with their little hands folded in front of them quietly listening to the teacher enter your mind quickly dismiss them. Leslie brings lessons to life. This teacher is the one. The one you want for your children. She is creative, engaging, organized, and loves her job. Leslie can assist in helping you with your kindergarten needs by just a click over to her blog. If you are a new teacher you will also want to learn from her experience.

When you enter Leslie’s blog you are stepping inside her classroom. She teaches you how to maintain order, how to teach effectively and creatively, and how to engage students. If she can keep several little ones engaged in a lesson then her techniques surely will help the restless little one in your dining/classroom. She explains how to keep track of guided reading on a classroom level yet this can easily be adapted to your homeschool. The detailed instructions can even encourage the most disorganized mind. In her post called “Do You Dough?” she takes you through a fun day playing with dough which is also quite educational. The children are happily learning letters, letter formation, and rhyming words. I use play dough quite a bit and there were some cute ideas I had not considered. In fact, she presents many ideas I had not considered but will be implementing with my kindergarten student.

If you just cannot get enough of Leslie or you still want some guided assistance and more ideas you can bring her right into your homeschool or school by purchasing her units and lessons. She is a part of Teachers Pay Teachers and A to Z Teacher Stuff’s Teacher eBooks Now.
