Homemade Baby Shower Favors

If you are planning a baby shower for someone close, you obviously want everything to be perfect. One of the many aspects of the shower will be favors, which are small mementoes provided to the guests, as a means of thanking them for coming and sharing in this special day. If you want to do something special, you might consider making homemade favors. In addition to being something nice for the guests to take home, homemade baby shower favors make a great keepsake for mom and dad.

Keep in mind that baby shower favors do not have to be elaborate, just something simple, and fun. Let’s say you have good computer skills and a colored printer. In this case, you could make bookmarks, each with a sweet poem or saying on one side and the parents name and shower date on the other side. If you like, you could use a heavier stock paper or have them laminated at your local printer, which is usually very inexpensive. To complete the look, punch a single hole in the corner through which you would run ribbon.

Another fun item is to make old-fashioned candy necklaces. Simply shop at your local bulk candy store where you will find wonderful candy choices. You might choose sweet and sour baby booties, pacifiers, cradles, or whatever you like, stringing them on elastic. Then, another great baby shower favor is made from cut out squares of baby fabric, making each about three to four inches in size. Choose various types of small candy such as colorful jellybeans, red-hot candy, or again, sweet and sour pieces, wrapping it up in the fabric and tying off with a ribbon.

Finally, everyone loves something homemade from the kitchen. Single wrapped brownies, chocolate chip cookies, popcorn balls, or pecan tarts are sure to be a huge success. If you want to make the wrapping special, hobby or art supply shops have colored cellophane. Again, use coordinating ribbon to wrap the goodies up. To finish the look, single punch a typed out card with the parent’s name and shower date, which is strung onto the ribbon.
