How God Answers Prayer.

I’m going to take a break from the blogs on anger, to share something of how God has been at work getting me back on track. Lately I have been ignoring my poetry in favor of other forms of writing.

Then I received a new poetry book, ‘Two Kinds of Silence’ by Tasmanian poet Kathryn Lomer. I’m looking forward to reviewing it.

‘I really should get back to writing poetry,’ the thought flitted through my mind. That day and the next I wrote and send off a batch of poems for children.

A day or so later I received ‘Studio – a journal of Christians writing.’ I subscribe to it but this time I also received an extra copy, as it contained a review I had written a while back,of ‘My Brother, My Sister, My Country’ – an anthology of Australian poets

As I started to read the poetry in Studio, joy overwhelmed me. I found myself reaching for pen and paper as the rough draft of a poem tumbled onto the page. ‘I really do need to get back to my roots, which are in poetry,’ I thought.

Just in case I hadn’t got the message clearly, this morning I received an email saying ‘Brass Kaleidoscope’ the first poem in my poetry collection ‘Kaleidoscope’ was going to be read over radio this evening. So all of you people who can tune into ‘Night Rhythms’ which comes out of the Hudson Valley area of New York, I’d love to know what you think.

The DJ, Catherine Michaels is going to send me an MP3 audio of the reading. Apparently ‘Night Rhythms’ is usually a request and dedication show. You can find out more about it here www.whud.com (click on the DJ page for “Catherine Michaels.”) Catherine explained that she does a brief nightly segment where she reads poetry, and today it’s going to be one of mine. How cool is that!

Recently in a prayer group I belong to, I asked for prayer. My prayer was that I need to know clearly God’s direction about what I should be writing. Seems to me, in the last little while, God’s been busy answering that prayer. Just in case I missed it first time round, He’s been re-enforcing the point. Don’t you love the way God doesn’t leave us wondering and in doubt but answers our needs? I’d love to hear some of the ways God has been answering your prayers.
