How I Organize All That Stuff

The key to organizing your space is to do it in a way that works for you. However, sometimes, it is nice to know what others do to organize their space to give you an idea of ways that you can make it work better. Just recently, I purchased this bookshelf from Ikea, along with this desk. Best decision ever! It was inexpensive, and had room for all my stuff. The best part is that each cubby is a little bigger than 12 x 12 so there is plenty of room for albums, scrapbook layouts, and paper! Plus, you can buy doors and drawers to fit into all those little cubbys. The price for the bookshelf and desk was $179. That was well worth it, let me tell you! Things I love are that the desk attaches to the bookshelf. In the stores, I have seen it where they even attached two of these desks on either side of the bookshelf. This would be a great idea if you have a friend over to scrap!

Here is what I have in all those little cubby holes:

1. Albums

2. Finished layouts not yet in albums

3. Alphabets: These I organize by color. I have a plastic drawer for each one. So, I have a drawer for black alphas, brown, and white (mainly because I purchase the most of those three colors). Then, my last drawer is of all of my colored alphabet stickers.

4. Glue and Adhesives are in a plastic bucket on the same shelf as my buttons.

5. One cubby for stickers

6. The cubby closest to my desk I have embellishments. I have two little boxes also purchased at IKEA. One of them includes tags and frames, the other includes my miscellaneous embellishments (other than stickers). Also in the cubby I have my pens and scissors for easy access.

7. Another cubby I have is for die cuts and die cut stickers.

There are 16 cubbys in all, so there is PLENTY of space in this nifty little shelf.

I have a beautiful paper rack where I keep all of my 12 x 12 papers. I got my rack at a garage sale. What a find! I love it!

In another set of 3 12 x 12 plastic drawers, I keep all my scraps. They are divided up by large scraps, small scraps, and then a drawer for all of my solid colored scraps.

Last, I have my ribbons divided up by solid colors, black and white ribbon, patterned ribbon, and very thick ribbon. I have these in 2 glass jars, and two clear bags so that I can see through them for easy access.

One thing that I love to do is label things also. I bought the post it notes that are specifically made for labeling, and that was an inexpensive way to get everything labeled! You scrap space is something that I believe is always evolving. As time goes on, your stuff grows, but for now this works great for me. Here is a picture of where the magic happens!
