How My Laundry Baskets Save Money

Who would have known that a little thing such as a laundry basket could save you money? My laundry baskets save me money both on a daily basis and on special occasions. Here is how.

Saving Money While Traveling

To save on the cost of water, snacks and meals on the road, I load up on supplies and place them in a large laundry basket. The basket fits perfectly in the back of the car, and the wide profile means that we can see what is available. There are no more unexpected food stops when we are traveling by car.

For overnight trips, laundry baskets can also serve as easy luggage. Allowing the kids to pack themselves. At the end of the trip, the dirty clothes go back into the baskets. They can either be taken home to be washed, or in the case of extended trips, to the local laundromat.

Saving Money with Laundry

Well, a laundry basket is made for laundry, but rather than simply using it to cart laundry all over the place, I also use them to sort for full loads. This save money on electricity and water because I only run the laundry when I have a full load. I can tell how stuffed a basket needs to be to represent a full load.

As Makeshift Toys

Forget spending money on expensive toys. My laundry baskets serve double duty as playthings for my kids. They love to turn them over and get underneath them, use them as cages for their stuffed animal zoo, stack them like blocks and push each other around in them while they pretend to be driving a car or a train or an airplane. The best part is that when they are done playing with the laundry baskets, the baskets once again become useful for laundry.
