Do you have a pocket full of memories? Well you should! A pocket page that is. What a great addition a pocket page is to your scrapbooks.
All sorts of things can be stored in a pocket page, tiny mementos, report cards, greeting cards, id cards, vacation brochures, maps and more!
Creating the page is actually really easy and can be done quickly. After you’re done with the basic part, you can then begin embellishing it with all the new, fun products in the scrapbooking world.
So how do you create a pocket page? Let’s get started.
There are a lot of variations for creating a pocket page. However, I’d like to provide you with the most basic, and then you can adapt it to your own style.
What you need:
2 pieces of cardstock in the size you scrapbook
paper cutter
adhesive
embellishments
You will need to first take the two pieces of cardstock, which should be the same size. Keep in mind the type of layout the pocket page will go with. For instance, if it’s for a new baby, you will want to use colors that you use for those pages. One piece of paper will be used for the background, so you might have more fun with a piece of patterned paper. The other piece of paper will but cut in half, and will be used to create the pocket on your completed page.
At this point, you will need to decide how big you would like your pocket to be. If you want it to be 1/4,1/2, or 3/4 of your scrapbook page. You need to cut the piece that is to be the pocket using your paper cutter to your desired size.
You will now need to attach your “pocket” to the background. Remember, when gluing your pocket to the page, you will want to leave the top open and only glue the sides and bottom to your “background” piece. Turn your “pocket” over and apply glue to the bottom, the left and the right sides, being careful not to get any glue on the top part.
Turn it over and stick it in place at the bottom of the piece of background paper. There you have it! It’s a completed pocket page. Allow page to completely dry before placing any items into the pocket. This insures that nothing gets glued permanently into your album.
Now you can embellish your pocket page however you’d like. Create lettering with stickers, glitter, pens or computer lettering. Add fun embellishments to add character to your page.
Now your pocket page is complete. You can now place it in your album and fill it up with all of your special memories!
