It is inevitable, isn’t it? That one piece of clothing that you decided to invest in seems to be the one that attracts the stains, while the worn out old comfy outfit seems to stay pristine. At least, that is how it seems to be in my house.
Recently, we spent a little bit more money than we wanted on a couple of back to school dresses for my daughter. We still got them at a discount, but it was no where near the savings we were used to enjoying. We were desperate to find modest dresses, and unfortunately I don’t know how to make clothing myself.
So, you can imagine how upset I was when one of those nice dresses got a chocolate stain that just wouldn’t come out, not matter how many laundry tricks that I tried. The only thing left to do was to hide that stain so the dress would still be usable. With three kids, I have a little bit of experience in this area.
Here are my favorite ways to hide clothing stains.
Add an iron on decal. There are so many nice decals out there that ill hide a stain nicely. Pick out a little strawberry or butterfly for a girl, a baseball or star for a boy, or any number of favorite icons. There are even popular Disney, pokemon and other characters to choose among.
Use a fabric marker. If you a just a teeny bit creative, you can cover the stain by drawing your own design using a fabric market. Maybe you could even incorporate the stain into your design. No fabric marker handy? Use a bleach pen. Doesn’t every household have one of those?
Speaking of bleach pens, you can create some really cool looks when you use a bleach pen on dark fabric since it will bleach in rust red, blue or other underlying colors that are not white.
This is one of my favorite ideas for adult clothing. Yes, adults can get messy, too. Get a bottle of fabric spray and a cool stencil. You can then create a one-of-a-kind design that will not only hide the stain but turn your ordinary bit of clothing into something special.
