We have been learning how to create a criss cross card which can also be used as a fun journaling pocket amongst other things. Your layouts will really shine with these adorable projects.

It is now time to glue our card together. I recommend using glue because it adheres better. At this time you need to place a strip of glue down the center of the bottom. Fold one side in and press down firmly to glue in place.
Next, place glue on the remaining flap and the bottom of the center again. Fold that flap in and press down firmly again.
Here is our finished product. Looks a little plain doesn’t it?
So let’s spruce it up by adding a ribbon or a strip of paper.
Next, add a pretty embellishment. I chose a coordinating flower and placed it on the paper strip. Looks a lot better doesn’t it?
The last step is to insert the piece that goes inside the card. Grab a coordinating piece of patterned paper or solid if you are using only solid colors. Cut it in a 4” strip. You might need to shave a tiny bit off of it to fit it into the pocket part. Place the strip into the pocket as far as it will go, and flip the card over and draw a line down the backside where it touches the top of the pocket. See the photo. Remove the piece and cut that strip off at the line.
Here is what it will look like when you flip it over and insert the paper into the pocket. You can write your message on the backside of the patterned paper or you can create a card that will fit inside the pocket.
If you want to use this as a journaling block for your layouts, my favorite use, add a piece of white cardstock to the front of the patterned piece so it looks like this.
