Inspiring Layouts

In a previous post I shared details about my attempt to win a Disney-themed scrapbook contest. It’s a random drawing run by my local scrapbook store in which the winner walks away with a table full of Disney scrapbooks, embellishments and a couple of nifty scrapping tools. You are only allowed to enter your name once, so it’s not like I can stuff the box in order to increase my chances of winning. Still, even if I don’t strike Disney gold, it certainly is inspirational looking at the sample scrapbooks that are included in the display.

The owner of the scrapbook store set out a memory book she completed following her family’s recent trip to Disney World. It is filled with amazing photos, incredible memorabilia and loads of embellishments. However, the part of the layouts that caught my eye the most were the use of Disney quotes.

Quotes can really make a layout pop, but I never considered using famous sayings by Disney characters to enhance a page design. It’s pure genius and I can’t wait to try it out when I craft my own Disney-themed book. What’s even more amazing is the range of quotes that the owner was able to fit into her layouts. She even found one to feature on a page with her teen daughter: “Teenagers! They think they know everything. You give them an inch, they swim all over you,” Sebastian from Little Mermaid.

A few other stand-out layouts used Disney quotes as page titles and speech balloons, such as: “Slimy, yet satisfying,” Timon from Lion King and “Look, you’re really cute kid, but I don’t know what you’re saying!” Marlin in Finding Nemo. She also used a few family-themed quotes on pages that featured multiple members of the clan in the photos. Some of my favorites were: “This is my family. I found it all on my own. It’s little and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good,” Stitch from Lilo and Stitch and “I’m so happy I could bounce!” Tigger from Winnie the Pooh.
