Introducing a New Family Scrapbooking Blogger

Nicole HumphreyHi there! I’m Nicole Humphrey, the new Families.com Scrapbooking Blogger. I am very excited about the opportunity to be a part of this ever growing community. I look forward to collaborating with Lisa and the other bloggers to bring you the best information on scrapbooking your family memories.

I am a 32 year old single mother of two wonderful children – a son, Ryan, age 11 and a daughter, Brielle, age 8. I have been divorced for five and a half years, but am dating someone seriously. Mike has three girls ages 11, 9 and 6.

My children and I reside in O’Fallon, Missouri which is just outside of St. Louis in St. Charles County. We have 1 dog, Chloe and 1 “foster” Ferret, Mocha.

I have been scrapbooking for the past 11 years since my son was born, though I seriously think scrapbooking is a gene. I’ve always glued pictures and special items in books since I was a kid. And have had a time of it trying to “recover” them and make them acid-free and safe. Both of my children love to scrapbook with me! These are my kiddo’s!

I have been teaching scrapbook classes since 1997, and the store I started out in is now closed. That was hard for me, but they grew into bigger and better things. In 1999 I was selected to teach at the Arlington Scrapbook Convention and that was a blast! I have since moved and continue to teach at our local recreational centers, as well as out of my own home.

My favorite topic is journaling, and my second favorite topic is organization however I will focus on many different aspects of scrapbooking. Because I teach scrapbooking classes I am often sent a product to try out, and I will write up some reviews on my personal favorites, as well as give you information on other products. I plan to show you different styles, and techniques. I’d love to hear what you’d personally like to learn about.

I typically scrapbook in 12”x12” but I started out with an 8.5”x11” album. Is that like ambidextrous in the scrapbooking world? About 5 years ago I began using 12”x12” and really love it. My style changes daily. It can take me 10 minutes to complete a page or it can take me days. I tend to lean towards Simple Scrapbooking, however some techniques still fascinate me and I enjoy learning them and implementing them.

I’ve been on the Internet since 1993 and had one of the original scrapbooking websites as well as mailing lists. I have my own home-business, that I am able to coordinate my love of scrapbooking with. I also am a part-time Professional Freelance Writer. My past jobs include teaching Preschool which I miss terribly, and I am still currently a part-time Office Manager for a 3D Ultrasound Office.

I look forward to sharing my love of scrapbooking with you. Your questions and suggestions are always welcome!
