Introducting the New Women’s Health Blogger

Well, first of all I want to say that I’m really delighted and honoured to get to work here! This is a wonderful site, and from what I’ve seen of the community, a great group of people.

My name is D. Kai Wilson, or just Kai. I’m 27, a mother of two, and have…well various small health conditions, and a nosiness about the ones that I hear about, a passion for research and an interest in providing information on women’s health.
I also write for my own mental health site, and edit/blog there to raise the profile of bi-polar disorder and the fact that a positive attitude makes SO much of a difference. I’ve been writing on-line and off for nearly six years now, since the birth of my son. I was signed off after having him for severe postpartum depression, and have since been diagnosed with having bi-polar disorder, had my gall-bladder removed, pancreatitis, cysts and glandular fever (mono).

I live in the UK, and I’m currently starting myself and my children on an Omega-3 supplement, for various reasons – my youngest daughter is finding several things difficult, and its been suggested this will help her – and replace the ‘resources’ I’ve lost over the last several years. It will hopefully help me build up my immune system too. I plan on documenting this in several places, so watch my posts for more details – I’ll post exclusive information here on a regular basis.

I’m very interested in aromatherapy and diet supplements and anything else that allows me to retain an element of control and not fill my body with conflicting chemicals – the children and I bake our own bread, and make our own fruit smoothies, milkshakes and sauces whenever we can.

As for what I hope to achieve….Well, that’s down to you as readers – I want to know what you all want to see. I’ve got some ideas, but I hope if there’s something you’d like to see/for someone to write about – or you’ve got something to recommend, that you’ll contact me via the Families.com Private Messaging system (PM). I’m always open to ideas and suggestions, and in fact welcome them, because, basically, I want to offer those that read my posts information that they need. What is relevant for me isn’t necessarily relevant for others. So please, its never an intrusion – PM me for anything or pop on over to the forums and post here or start a thread of your own!
