Is Your Home Entertainment Ready?

So my husband and I have been trying to decide what to do about our oldest son’s high school graduation, which is less than a month away. The only reason we have procrastinated is because we had been hoping to hear a date on when he will leave for the Air Force.

Our plans have been to combine his graduation party with his going away party. In fact, a couple of months ago our intentions were to work on areas of the home that we felt needed some sprucing up before having a big party.

But as time kept passing and we didn’t hear a date on when he is leaving, we just sort of let it go. Now we are down to the wire and need to make a decision. The problem is that it’s probably too late to reserve a spot in a park for a graduation party (now thinking we will just have a going away party at another time).

That means entertaining a very large group of people in our home. The idea nearly brings me to tears.

While we don’t have a lot of space inside, we do have enough outside. But the problem is that all I can see are things in the home that should be done before we open it up.

For instance I am thinking about my youngest son’s room which has been half painted for nearly a year now…I know, pretty pathetic. I am thinking about the minor repairs that need to be taken care of and the big projects my husband has done but the little details that were never completed.

While on a surface level my home is probably just fine for entertaining, I can’t help but think about what is deeper. And all I see is a home that isn’t ready for a large graduation party.

Maybe it’s just me. More than likely all those things I feel “need” to be done probably don’t have to be. But there is just something about having a ton of people pass through my home that gets my heart pumping faster.

Have you had to entertain a large group of people and felt like your home wasn’t entertainment ready? How did you deal with it?
