It’s Exactly One Month until Christmas Eve

Eeek! Thirty days is not a lot of time. Here I was, being lazy, enjoying my Black Friday day off yesterday, when suddenly I realized things are about to move into high gear. Christmas is well on the way!

My husband was already ready to put up the tree, but he had no chance of persuading me yesterday. I was tired! Today might be another story. I’m thinking it might be a good idea to get things going. It will take some rearranging, and if we can at least get the tree up, get the lights and ornaments sorted out, and be ready to decorate tomorrow (when everybody will be at home), we’ll have a good start.

I’ve done very little shopping, but I have picked up a few things, and I’ve begun working on my meticulous Christmas List. My kids are writing lists and turning them in daily, so I’ll continue adding, comparing quality and prices, and I’ll make sure anything that needs to be ordered is on order and guaranteed to arrive in time for Christmas.

Are you having company for Christmas? I’m not sure if I am yet, but I’ll probably go ahead and plan for it as if I am. Also, don’t forget to pick up a few nonspecific gift items and wrap them up in case you are surprised by an unexpected gift from someone, in case you forget someone not on your list whom you may run into, or just in case you have a surprise guest or two for Christmas. You don’t want anyone to be sitting there with nothing while others are opening gifts.

When making your list, remember teachers, minister, mail carrier, stylist, and others who may be overlooked once you’re busily preparing for Christmas. It’s a good idea to keep some extra Christmas cards on hand, so you can tuck a tip inside one for the package man or other service people whom you may want to present with a bit of holiday cheer and appreciation. You can find attractive, affordable boxed sets, so you’ll always have cards on hand if needed.
