Jon Gosselin’s Pals Come to His Defense

Remember the episode of “Jon & Kate Plus 8” where Kate Gosselin joked that her doting husband Jon had no friends? Well, she may have spoken too soon.

Apparently, Jon Gosselin is a good guy. Really. His friends, yes, friends, say the guy is not as bad as some people think.

Those people are the legions of Internet chatters, who have blasted Jon for landing on the cover of numerous publications in the days following his latest night/early morning bar visit.

This week Us Magazine ran a cover story featuring the father of 5-year-old sextuplets and 8-year-old twins partying with a mystery woman. The article basically painted the reality TV star as a cad, who was whooping it up at a bar while his wife Kate was home with the couple’s eight kids.

Now, Jon’s pals are speaking out, defending the quasi-celeb’s reputation. According to Jon’s buddies the reports that he is cheating on Kate are “absolutely false.”

According to Dustin Sands, a family friend, who told PEOPLE magazine that he has known Jon for nearly 20 years, Gosselin was at Legends Lounge near his Pennsylvania mansion last week because he just needed to escape from the pressure of raising a brood of kids.

“The guy just needs to be cut some slack once in while when he wants to relax a bit,” says Sands.

Another one of Jon’s purported longtime friends also defended the TLC star to reporters. Brian Sep claims Jon was “just hanging out, relaxing with his friends.” What’s more, Sep maintains that Jon deserves to unwind in a bar from time to time. “Honestly, he doesn’t go out that much,” says Sep. “It seems like he’s on house lockdown. He’s a fulltime Dad.”

”House lockdown.” That’s an interesting way to describe making millions of dollars from starring on a TV show that documents your life as a father.

I think the term is also an indirect jab at Kate, who many claim is more controlling than an Army drill sergeant. Still, I think there is way too much money at stake for the Gosselin’s to split up.

My question: Will Jon’s “poor decisions” at local bars become material for the show?

Now that would be REAL reality TV.
