We know her best as the spunky blonde professional dancer from “Dancing with the Stars.” She’s taken home the title of “champion” twice, first with Olympic champion Apolo Anton Ono and then with Helio Castroneves, fully deserving this honor for her amazing choreography and gutsy moves. However, Julianne Hough’s first love isn’t dancing, it’s singing. She and her family formed a family band when she was just a child—yes, Derek too. Dancing was just a sideline for her while she studied singing, but when the offer to do “Dancing with the Stars” came along, it was too good to pass up. My goodness, she dances that well, but loves singing more? How multi-talented can you get?
Her new album was released today, called, not surprisingly, “Julianne Hough.” Her sound has been compared to that of Faith Hill, Shania Twain and Carrie Underwood. That’s really not bad company to be in, if you ask me. Tracks on the album are entitled “That Song in My Head,” “You, You, You,” “Hide Your Matches,” “My Halleluiah Song,” “Jimmy Ray McGee,” “Dreaming Under the Same Moon,” “About Life,” “Hello,” “Help Me, Help You,” “Love Yourself,” and “I’d Just Be with You.” Her song “You, You, You” has been available as a single and has done rather respectably.
However, if you’re expecting the music to be bubble-gum given Julianne’s Mormon background, you may be a little surprised—there’s actually some swearing. Gasp! I haven’t heard the album myself but will probably be buying it soon (I like Hill, Twain and Underwood, so I’ll probably like Hough) and I’ll give you my own take on the whole thing. I’d be really surprised if I like her singing better than her dancing, though – I think she’s one of the most refreshing dancers on DWTS. Professional dancer and brother Derek also appears on the album as well, but it remains to see if he’s as talented as his sister.
