I must admit when I heard that Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz decided to call it quits I was a bit surprised. After all, the couple had professed their “love and admiration” for each other on numerous talk shows throughout their four year courtship. Sure, there was the nine-year age difference, but they seemed (by all accounts) to be at peace with their relationship.
Then came the breakup and that nasty Golden Globe post party incident. According to several entertainment magazines, the exes got into a heated argument at Prince’s Golden Globes afterparty when Diaz reportedly saw Timberlake chatting with actress Jessica Biel. Fellow partygoers report that Diaz and Timberlake got into an intense 40-minute face-off in a side room.
Today, PEOPLE magazine is reporting that Timberlake and Biel have been “spotted chilling, flirting and snowboarding lately” – but readers shouldn’t peg them as a new couple just yet.
It begs the question: “How does Hollywood define a “couple,” anyway? According to PEOPLE, earlier this month, Timberlake invited Biel and a few friends to hang out backstage at his concert in San Diego. A few weeks later the pair were spotted snowboarding together with a group of buddies at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
But Timberlake’s friends tell reporters that their buddy is “just having fun.” As for Biel, who also happens to be newly single after a brief fling with major league baseball player Derek Jeter, sources say she recently confessed her attraction to Timberlake to–of all people–his mom.
Physical attraction aside, the singer’s friends tell magazine reporters not to expect Timberlake to get serious with anyone anytime soon: “He is in no way looking to be in a relationship. He’s single and he’s happy.”
Meanwhile, as I had mentioned in a previous blog, Diaz is clearing her head in paradise. She remains in Hawaii this week spending time with old pal, pro surfer, Kelly Slater.
