Kid Friendly Websites: Fun Brain

Would your child spend hours playing video games everyday is they were allowed to? While getting outside or picking up a book is probably a much better way to spend your day, if your child love to play video games then the site Fun Brain is a great place to send them.

Fun Brain is a site completely dedicated to bringing fun games to your children that are also educational. While on Fun Brain they will be able to play lots of fun games, but they will always learn a little something in the process.

Most of the games on the site are either math or language based and teach children about grammar or how to solve math problems. The site is designed primarily for children in kindergarten through eighth grade, and the games can be sorted by grade level. Oftentimes it can be difficult to tell at first glace is a game to going to be too hard to too easy for your child, so I think the age sorting for this site is a fantastic idea.

My favorite discovery on Fun Brain is the ability to read “The Little Engine That Could” online. Unlike some online books that are just text, this online version of the book is legitimately an online version of the real book complete with the font used in the book and illustrations. In order to turn the pages of the book you have to use your mouse to drag the page over.

In addition to its reading and game resources Fun Brain also has a “Fun Blog” that covers important news events kids will want to know about in kid friendly language they can easily understand.

Fun Brain makes it easy to find games that are age appropriate for your child in a flash, and is a website I feel like would be safe to allow any child to navigate freely.
