Kim and Kris Marry…No Wait, Divorce

I didn’t blog about the Kim Kardashian/Kris Humphries wedding because frankly, I don’t really care for people who became famous for no reason at all. Now some of her fans might say “But Libby, she is a successful reality star and business woman. Uh, no. Do something that shows some remote talent, then I will consider you famous.

So, I refused to blog about the wedding, yet now I feel compelled by my love for Hollywood scandal to let you know I will blog about the divorce.

Yes, that is right, I said “divorce.” After a brief 72 days (is the honeymoon even over after such a small amount of time?), Kardashian filed for divorce today. Ryan Seacrest tweeted this morning “Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few min.” The wedding was filmed for the reality show “Kourtney & Kim Take New York,” which ironically enough won’t air until November 27th.

Kardashian
released a statement later which read, “After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage.” She went on to say, “I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

For his part, Humphries said in his own statement, “I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”

Reports are that Kardashian will seek a divorce under the grounds of irreconcilable differences and not seek an annulment.

Yes, I guess a small part of me feels somewhat sorry for her, with her marriage in shambles before it even began. But, here’s what kills me. Kardashian spent $10 million on her wedding. I can’t even begin to think about how much good that $10 million could have done if it had been given to Feeding America, FoodCorps, It Gets Better, ONE, or the Global Soap Project.
