Digital picture frames are one of the hot gifts this season. They seem to be on everyone’s wish list and in every store, from Sears to high-end electronic stores. Target even featured one in its Black Friday sale.
With a digital picture frame, you can upload your digital photos to display one at a time or in a slide show. There are many different options out there.
You can find digital photo frames that do the above mentioned photo slide shows, as well as ones that feature movie clips and/or have multiple screens. Prices can range from $50 to more than $400, depending on the quality and features.
One of the digital picture frames out there that is getting a lot of attention lately is the Kodak EasyShare EX-1011 Digital Picture Frame. It is readily available at most electronic stores, as well as in department stores and online. It can handle both digital photos and digital movies.
The pros for this unit include a built in wireless connectivity that allows you to easily stream the images from your Windows PC. Mac users will have to take advantage of the Kodak EasyShare online photo sharing gallery service in order to stream images into the picture frame. Photos and movies can also be uploaded using one of the many memory card slots or a USB port. The large 10-inch display is relatively sharp and will satisfy most customers.
On the downside, this picture frame doesn’t offer automatic image resizing, so the files sizes are large and can quickly fill up your available space. Built in speakers allow for music and sound, although the quality could be improved. Also, the Kodak EasyShare EX-1011 Digital Picture Frame is pretty pricey, retailing at $299. Kodax also makes a similar model, the 811 with an 8-inch screen instead of the 10-inch screen.
