Kylie Minogue Separates from Olivier Martinez

Kylie Minogue has split from her actor boyfriend Olivier Martinez. The two have been together four years, which is almost like twenty-five by Hollywood standards. The couple released a statement saying the split was mutual, amicable, and the two remain close friends. If you are not familiar with Olivier Martinez’s work, he was in Before Night Falls and S.W.A.T., but I always remember him as the handsome roguish boyfriend in Unfaithful.

Kyle has gone through quite a bit lately. She began her career in the 1980s when she was on an Australian soap opera called “Neighbours.” After that, she became a pop artist, selling more than 65 million records internationally. She holds the record for the highest ticket sales by a female performer in Australia and has had nine number one hits on the Australia charts. By 2000, she was known for her dance music as well as her striking good looks.

In 2005, Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer, which caused her to postpone the rest of her Showgirl – The Greatest Hits tour. She was hospitalized in Melbourne to receive treatment and underwent surgery in Malvern in May 2005. Her first public appearance after her hospitalization was at a children’s cancer ward in the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Minogue had credited Martinez with helping her through her cancer battle. While recovering, Minogue wrote a children’s book titled “The Showgirl Princess.”

After her recovery, Minogue released one single, “Over the Rainbow,” a live recording from her last tour. Reports in summer of 2006 were that she was working on a new album. She released her own brand of perfume, “Darling,” in November of last year. That same month, she resumed her Showgirl – The Greatest Hits tour.

On January 13, 2007, Minogue had to cancel a performance in Manchester England due to a respiratory tract infection. Her publicist said the infection was not related to her cancer or its treatment and her tour would resume as soon as she recovered.
