Laptop vs. Desktop

Do you have a laptop or a desktop computer?

I recently purchased a laptop computer which I absolutely love. Before I bought my previous computer I was forced with the decision “Laptop or Desktop?” I love the portability of laptops, but at the time I decided the slightly less expensive desktop computer was a better choice. Desktops are easier to upgrade, have larger hard drives and are a little more difficult to steal. At the time I made my purchase I lived in a college dorm and was concerned about the possibility of my roommate leaving our door unlocked one day and someone wandering in and walking away with my laptop.

Once I made my desktop purchase I immediately regretted it. I longed to be able to take my computer to the coffee shop or a friend’s house to do my work. I’ve never been a huge fan of being tied down to one place, and my computer did just that.

Right now I’ve had my laptop around two months. For all the dreaming of going to coffee shops and exotic locations to do my work, I’ve done everything from the couch at my house. Albeit by couch is much more comfortable than my desk in my office, but still is not all that exotic.

Will I ever go to a coffee shop with my computer? Chances are I’ll probably make it at some point. Right now Wi-Fi is a huge deal for me. I have Wi-Fi in my house, but most coffee shops in my area don’t have free Wi-FI, you have to pay for it. I’m not going to pay for something I have at home.

So, do you have a desktop or laptop? What made you decide to pick what you did? Do you wish you could change your mind? Have you used your computer the way you thought you would when you bought it?
