Reports are out today that Liz Hurley, 41, married Arun Navar, 42, the Indian businessman she has been seeing for the past couple of years yesterday, a day before their reported wedding date. Hurley, best known as a model, an actress (Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery), and a designer.
I had read in this week’s Star Magazine that the two had planned to marry on March 3, with a Hindu ceremony in Rajasthan to follow that. How did Star know this information? A public announcement was posted in the Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, register’s office last week. However, The Daily Mirror reported that the two actually exchanged vows March 2 in a civil ceremony held at the Sudeley Castle in West England. The castle is owned by a close friend of Hurley’s, Henry Dent-Brocklehurst. County superintendent registrar Anne Williams conducted the ceremony with only another registrar and two other witnesses present.
It is expected that the happy couple will go through with a more lavish wedding in England today. Reverend John Partington has confirmed that to the Daily Mirror. Star is reporting the reception will be held at The Village Pub, but The Daily Mirror merely reported that actress Patsy Kensit, singer Elton John, and Hurley’s former boyfriend actor Hugh Grant will attend.
For a while, it seemed that although Hurley and Grant were not married, they had one of the longest lasting relationships in Hollywood. They dated for thirteen years, even surviving a couple of years after Grant’s prostitute scandal. Even after the breakup, the two remain friends. In 2002, the Estee Lauder model announced she was pregnant with producer Steve Bing’s baby. He initially denied it, but paternity tests proved he was indeed the father.
While Hurley is now blissfully wed, Grant appears to be single again. The 46-year-old actor and his girlfriend of three years, Jemima Kahn, announced right after Valentine’s Day that they had ended their relationship.
