Looking for Change in the Kitchen, Bedroom, Bath, or Hall? Go Vintage

Vintage decorating is a great idea for adding charm to your home. Vintage or vintage-look fabrics and other items can go a long way toward adding softness, a bit of nostalgia, and a sense of comfort to various spaces. Kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, are the most likely rooms to be decorated in a vintage fashion, but the style will work anywhere, and the hallway or entryway is a good example.

Try Vintage Chairs

Not only can you find unique designs in vintage chairs, but it’s also not usually too difficult to find a one of a kind piece at an antique shop or flea market. There are some great ways to use a single chair, such as placing one in the corner of your kitchen and hanging pretty tea towels over the back. Place a bowl and pitcher on the seat or try a basket filled with flowers.

In the bathroom, drape a bath towel over the back of the chair allowing part of the chair to show. Fill a vintage tray with a rolled bath towel or two, some rolled washcloths, a bath sponge, and pretty soaps or bath beads for an inviting look. If you can’t find a vintage tray, you can decorate a more modern one with vintage fabric or vintage print wallpaper or wallpaper border.

In the bedroom, you can use a vintage chair as a nightstand or a place to store extra throws or quilts. Fold them, roll them, or drape them over the chair. You can also try the corner. Drape a chair with a pretty, handmade quilt and add a coordinating vintage fabric placemat to the seat, topped with a few small potted plants.

Vintage chairs will also work in hallways or entry ways or just near a door. Try placing two of them side by side (they don’t have to match) as a place to sit down to remove or put on shoes. Another idea is to simply use the chairs for storing items that your family members drop as they come through the door, such as jackets, backpacks, handbags, briefcases or other gear.
