Looking for my waist: Are You Losing Weight?

If you have been following my Looking for My Waist blog, then you know I am having just as much problems losing weight as the next person. I started out actually gaining weight before ever losing a pound, and then I had many excuses to not exercise.

Well I am happy to announce that I have had a much better week. Not only have I lost a pound in the last week, but also I have lost many inches, and I am hearing those four words every dieter wants to hear: Are you losing weight? Outwardly I reply, “I’m trying”, and change the subject. Inwardly, I am doing the weight-loss happy dance! In addition, I have succeeded in losing an average of 1 pound a week this past month!

What did I do differently last week? First, I changed my attitude. In Looking for my waist… Seriously, I talked about making no more excuses to not eat right and exercise. I still have some mental work to do, but mindset was a big part of my success. As I mentioned in the same blog post, I put to work some tips I read in First Magazine and Woman’s World magazine that we continued to discuss in the comments section.

Therefore, I searched all packaged food for traces of transfats and stayed away from foods loaded with them. In addition, I tried the every other day diet (with some success). As several people mentioned last week in the comments, the off days were very tempting and could easily lead to gross over eating, so some restraint was still necessary. On those days, I paid special attention to transfats. On the days when I was restricting my eating, I was able to stay away from the pantry knowing that I could fulfill my cravings the next day. I used my hoodia pops and chocolate chews to help stave away hunger and chocolate cravings on those days as well.

(Disclaimer: I have not had enough success with this method of dieting to recommend it to others; it is just something that seems to be working for me)

Here are my stats this week (inches)
246 lbs? bust 45, waist 42, hips 49.5, Thighs 44.5, single arm 14

Here are my original stats:
Dec 20, 2006: 250 lbs bust: 50, waist: 46, hips: 53, Thighs: 47, single arm: 15

My plan for this week: Do more of the same, and more exercise.
