Love & the Stars: Is There Something to It?

As I admitted when I wrote about pet horoscopes, I’m kind of interested in astrology. I think there are some things it can help explain.

A few years back I got a huge book called The Power of Birthdays, Stars, & Numbers: The Complete Personology Reference Guide. (When I say “huge” I mean as in size, not that it was a best-seller. I don’t know if it was or not.)

Anyway, it lists all 366 birthdays of the year. Using part astrology, part numerology, and even some psychology it profiles each personality.

The result is an overview of who you are generally, your secret self, what work and vocation you’re best suited to, and what you’re looking for in love and relationships.

To one side it even lists dates that are compatible with your own. They’re broken down by Love & Friendship, Beneficial, Fatal Attractions, Challenging, and Soul Mates.

This book is pretty accurate about specifying my personality traits, and even Wayne agreed that what it had to say about him was on track.

But thank heaven we didn’t rely on compatible dates when we made the decision to get together. His birthday isn’t listed among my Love & Friendship matches or my Soul Mates, and mine aren’t listed on his. (Mercifully neither of us is listed in each other’s Fatal Attractions or Challenging numbers either.)

I have to admit I was dismayed to see our birth dates weren’t each other’s soul mate destinies. I believe we’re pea pod mates but the stars certainly don’t support that notion.

It’s even worse if we were to take the Chinese Zodiac into consideration.

I’m a Dog, he’s a Sheep. According to Chinese astrology, that’s not a very compatible match at all. Sheep are regarded as deep-thinking introverts and Dogs as fun-loving extroverts. Put the two together and they spend more time fighting about what to do and how to do it than actually getting anything done.

Or so they say.

Wayne and I fight, but we’re actually a pretty good team. Even if the stars would argue otherwise.
