Make a Bookmark for Dad

There were some other bookmark projects posted here in the past, but this one is going to be really special. It’s going to be just for Dad and it will make a great Father’s Day gift.

Start with cardstock or heavy paper. Cut a strip about 12” long by 2” wide. Fold the strip in half. Next, you’re going to glue a small square of magnetic stripping to the back at the bottom. Center it. Measure how high you glued it from the bottom and glue another one to the back of the front flap. This way, when Dad places the bookmarker in his book, it will cover the top of the page and the magnets will stick together to secure it in place so it won’t fall out.

Dad will never lose his place in a book again! How cool is that?

To make Dad’s gift special, write a nice poem or message especially for him to let him know how much he means to you. You can write it on the bookmark yourself, or print it out and glue it on.

Now, here’s the extra special part. Add a family picture, a picture of all the kids, or a picture of yourself to the bookmark. You may need to make a copy of the picture so the original one can be kept in its album or frame. After you make a copy, cut the picture into the shape of a heart or any other shape you like. The easiest way to do this is to draw or trace the shape onto the back of the picture and then cut it out.

Now, glue it onto the bookmark and continue decorating the rest of it. Add designs or words like love, kisses, hugs, or anything else you think Dad will like.
