Make Scrapbooking More Manageable

left

I love scrapbooking; however, the hobby can suck-up a ton of time.

Even if you have a few years of scrapbooking under your belt, you can easily spend multiple hours crafting a single layout. That time can double or even triple, if you are adding tiny embellishments, intricate memorabilia, or a large journaling block.

The key to keeping on task is to avoid getting overwhelmed by your project. Often, I procrastinate when crafting page designs because of the time commitment. Fortunately, there are ways you can create an eye-catching layout without having to pull several all-nighters.

For example, if journaling takes up a ton of your time, consider reducing your load by using select memorabilia, such as a party invitation. Most paper invitations are pretty enough to feature on a layout. What’s more, they often include vital information, such as date, time and location, so you don’t have to spend time journaling the facts on the page. Another way to cut down on the amount of time it takes to journal is to keep a small notebook or pack of Post-Its in your purse. Use the paper to jot down journaling notes which you can then attach to photos you plan to use in your scrapbook page design.

Time management is important when it comes to scrapbooking, but so is smart shopping. Making wise scrapbook supply investments will help save you a ton of time when you are crafting layouts. For instance, working with a dull paper trimmer, rusty scissors, or a punch that sticks is a huge waste of time. Make sure you have tools that work properly so that you can be as efficient as possible during the time you set aside to work on your memory album. Finally, if you are really pressed for time, consider purchasing scrapbooking kits which feature coordinated paper and embellishments. These kits take the guesswork out of scrapbooking and often include timesaving products like self-adhesive chipboard and prefabricated frames.
