Marriage Activity: Seasonal Scavenger Hunt – Fall

Today I finally get to use one of my favorite sayings: Happy Fall Y’All! (I just think that’s such a cute expression.) Okay, now that that’s out of my system, I can move on.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I think because of all the romantic potential that’s in the air. The weather cools down, lending to snuggling inside and taking long strolls outside. (Arm and arm, of course, to keep the chill away.) There’s all sorts of seasonal gastronomic delights to savor. (I love sharing my food with Wayne.) And, one of my all time faves, fall brings Halloween and dressing up time. (Something I like now even more than I did as a kid, because it’s even more fun to dress up as part of a couple.)

How to Ring in the Season?

I’ve been thinking a lot the past few weeks about a seasonal article I could write for today to herald the autumnal equinox. I thought of doing the standard “X Amount of Things to Enjoy During Fall as a Couple,” but I did that last year. Since I didn’t have much new to add, I didn’t want to torture myself trying to rehash it.

I’ve also been thinking a lot about something fun we did on the cruise: a digital scavenger hunt. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to write a blog posing that as a marriage activity for others to play along with at home.

Then it hit me: why not combine the two? A scavenger hunt fall style!

Doing the Scavenger Hunt

Okay, so how it works is simple:

1. See the list (I’ll post it tomorrow) for activity ideas you and your honey can do this fall.

2. Pick one at a time.

3. Collect as many experiences as you can. (That’s the whole point of this. To add experiences and texture to your relationship, as well as a bit of fun.)

Alternatives

1. Make it a competition and invite your couple friends to play along. For the next three months, see who collects the most experiences, as proved through pictures, ticket stubs, or whatever other form of memorabilia you gather during your adventures. Maybe plan a dinner where you all get together and count up all that you’ve acquired. (Whether you want to reward the winner is up to you. I’m just thinking bragging rights are up for grabs, but perhaps you can think of something better.)

2. Post pictures of your scavenger hunt adventures on your MySite page and/or post entries about your fun in your MySite journal.
