Marriage Types: Young

Like people, relationships and marriages are different. They vary in many aspects and areas. Some couples are more committed with covenant marriages while others are more open with polygamous marriages. Other people are in their second marriage.

While some people marry later in life, some marry very early in life. I know some couples who married before they even graduated from high school.

Like those couples who marry late in life, there are several reasons why a couple may choose to marry early or young.

Some couples marry young due to the fact that they are expecting a baby. The couple decides that they want to raise the child together as a family. In some of these situations, the parents force the couple to marry.

Others marry young to get out of a bad home situation. When a young adult’s life is bad at home either due to abuse or other negative influences, the person may see marriage as a way out of the home.

Some couples marry young due to life goals. The dream of these people is to marry and have a family. They are not interested in obtaining an education or a career first.

Again, like with those who are married later in life, there are advantages and disadvantages to marrying young or early in life.

Those who marry early (without a baby) can spend more time together as a couple without having to focus on time spans of having children.

However, the younger a person is the more likely they are to change their hopes, dreams, and life goals. Therefore the idea life that they had at 17 may different greatly from what they want out of life at 30 or 40. These changes can break a couple apart.

No matter how old you are when you get married, the important thing to remember is to marry for the right reasons.
